[equal+ | law. dignity. community.]
In Romania, many LGBTI+ people still live without full legal recognition, without meaningful protection, and without access to a safe civic space.
EQUAL+ | Law. Dignity. Community. aims to help change this reality through advocacy, direct community support, and civic mobilization. Over the next two years, we will transform the real needs of LGBTI+ people into legislative proposals, public policies, and concrete actions, developed together with the community, civil society organizations, professionals, and public institutions.
The project’s main focus areas are the protection of family life, improving transgender people’s access to healthcare services, and strengthening a safer and more inclusive civic space in Romania.
[our work]
- draft and promote policy papers that will inform new legislative proposals and public policies;
- produce monitoring reports and carry out advocacy activities;

- provide free legal, psychological, and social support services;
- develop civic and media campaigns at local and national levels;
- create accessible resources and tools for the community and its allies.
[ongoing]
We launched the project with the conference “Romania, We Say YES! Our Families Will Find Their Place at Home”, bringing together representatives from the media, civil society, foreign embassies accredited in Bucharest, public institutions, and the LGBTI+ community.
The event marked the beginning of an important legal initiative aimed at the recognition of same-sex families and presented the project’s main advocacy priorities.
