Maraton out, loud #stillproud

On 17th of May 1990, the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. With this occasion, this day became the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and many countries organize specific events to mark it. And what a more proper way to celebrate this year than with an online event where we celebrated the LGBTQI+ community and the ones that are out and proud and who fight for our rights.

Together with Accept, Centrul FILIA and Coalitia Anti-discrimare, we were part of an online event. In the part of the event we talked about the way the LGBTQI+ community was affected by the pandemic. Whether we are talking about older LGBTQI+ people, queer artists or people who have financial difficulties, the LGBTQI+ community is already discriminated, so this period affected us even more. Deea talked about the main challenges that we face in Timisoara and the events that we organized in order to try to keep the community together. We also analyzed the situation from other places in the country and we tried to find better solutions to go through this period together and learn from each other.

LGBTQI+ organizations and members are facing a difficult time right now, but this does not stop us from trying harder to be there for all members of our community, especially the more vulnerable ones.
